South Africa’s prisons authority will problem an Appeals Courtroom ruling that nullified former President Jacob Zuma’s medical parole and ordered that he be despatched again to jail.

Zuma was sentenced in July 2021 to a 15-month time period by the Constitutional Courtroom for contempt when he refused to look earlier than a judicial probe investigating state corruption throughout his presidency. Zuma was launched on medical parole three months later.

“Having rigorously studied the judgment, Correctional Companies is satisfied that one other courtroom might arrive at a distinct conclusion,” the division stated in an emailed assertion on Thursday.

The previous chief’s arrest final yr set off lethal riots that price the financial system billions of rands in damages.
